| John H. Bocachica, M.D., is a board-certified dermatologist and cutaneous surgeon with a wealth of knowledge in the field. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of skin, hair, and nail diseases, such as eczema, acne psoriasis, moles, skin cancers, hair loss, and nail abnormalities. He is also a cutaneous surgeon and cosmetic surgeon with special expertise in removal of skin lesions. The doctor also specializes in a variety of cosmetic procedures including chemical peels and Juvederm filler designed to correct skin flaws associated with chronic sun exposure and aging.
Background & Education
After graduating from the prestigious Bronx High School of Science as a National Merit Scholarship semi-finalist, Dr. Bocachica completed his undergraduate studies at Wesleyan University in Connecticut. Here he graduated as a Pfeiffer Scholar with degrees in biology, pre-medicine, and romance languages.
Dr. Bocachica attended medical school at the State University of New York at Stony Brook as a Robert Woods Johnson Scholar. He obtained his M.D. degree in only three years, rather than the usual four, and graduated as one of the youngest physicians in the country.
After an internship in Internal Medicine in New York, Dr. Bocachica joined the United States Public Health Service, and spent three years in rural Alaska and Anchorage as a general medical officer. Following his residency in dermatology at The United States Public Health Service Hospital in New York and the University of California-Irvine, Dr. Bocachica served as the Medical Director of the Special Diseases Clinic in Southern California supervising the management of diseases of public health concern for several years. His love of Alaska and the quest for adventure lured him back to private practice in Juneau and Anchorage, where he has practiced since 1985.

Personal Life
Dr. Bocachica is happily married and has two sons. Outside of the office, he enjoys hiking, cross-country skiing, traveling, and photography. Dr. Bocachica also has a background in the performing arts and has appeared with the Perseverence Theater of Alaska and sung with the Anchorage Community Chorus. His most recent role was the title role in a local production of Lois Lowry's The Giver at the Anchorage Community Theatre.
